Glory Burns is an attorney and taught for over ten years at Colorado State University. She was honored as one of the University’s Outstanding Teachers and recognized with the Green and Gold award for outstanding service at CSU’s College of Business. As one of the Co-founders of the Summit Student Investment Fund, she assisted in developing a student managed investment program that allowed students to combine academic principles with professional experience by actively managing a portfolio of securities. She has also taught classes in Investment Analysis, Business Law and Business Ethics.
Most recently, she served as Chairman of the Board of Home State Banks, which recently merged with a publicly traded national bank holding company. Prior to that, she was senior-vice president/portfolio manager at First Western Trust Bank and has had a variety of positions in the financial services industry. She has served on many boards including the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado.
Semester at Sea is a tradition for her family; she sailed on the Fall 1973 voyage throughout Asian and the South Pacific. Eleven members of her family have sailed on SAS, including her grandmother who sailed as a life-long learner at the age of 80. Her two sons sailed on the Fall 2016 voyage.
She graduated from the University of Colorado-Boulder, received an MBA from the University of Denver and a JD from the University of Puget Sound.
