Eunshin Kim was born in Seoul city, South Korea. She received BA in Fine Art from University of Virginia and MFA in Painting from University of New Hampshire. She is an artist working in a wide range of mediums: drawing/painting, collage, printmaking, and installation. In her figurative works, she works from both observation and memory. She simplifies image and expresses personal feeling through color and surrounding world of figures. Her drawings and installation works emphasize the peculiarity of material itself; they convey a sense of light and ephemeral qualities of the materials. There are also certain quietude and controlled expressiveness in those works which come from ideas in Eastern philosophy. She has exhibited her works in the US and Asia and received artist scholarship/grant from NYSS, Vermont Studio Center, USA, HalongBay International Artist residency. She currently lives and works in Vancouver, Canada.
