Professor Greg Luft chairs the Journalism and Media Communication department at Colorado State University, where he completed his undergraduate degree. His graduate work was completed at American University in Washington, D.C.
Greg’s professional work before and during his academic career includes television news reporting, producing, and anchoring; documentary, educational, and corporate video production; and freelance video journalism. While a journalist, Luft traveled regionally, nationally, and internationally, covering a wide range of topics and events. His independent productions have been used in more than 400 colleges and universities in the U.S. and abroad. The programs focus on television writing, editing and production, the behavior of journalists during coverage of large-scale news events, and the impacts of news coverage on victims of crime.
Greg was named a Colorado State University best teacher in 2013. He is vice president of the Broadcast Education Association, and has served in leadership roles for College Media Advisors, and the Colorado Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. Greg also is a senior faculty fellow for the Institute for Education in International Media (ieiMedia). He has been teaching Multimedia Journalism in Italy each summer since 2012.
