Gretchen Foust currently serves on the Semester at Sea Alumni Association Board of Directors as Co-Chair of the Faculty/Staff Council. She sailed in spring 2005 as the Dependent Children’s Program Coordinator with her husband Dane (who was Dean of Student Life) and her two children, Derek and Alyssa (then ages 9 and 10), who are both excited to be joining her on this voyage as college students! She is an enthusiastic advocate for Semester at Sea, participating in recruiting and public relations activities as an alumna volunteer and attending reunion voyages every year.
Gretchen is a three-time graduate of Penn State, where she earned a doctorate and a master’s degree in Counselor Education and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She is currently Assistant Professor and Coordinator of School Counseling in the Counselor Education program at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. She also serves as Postsecondary Vice President of the Maryland School Counselor Association. Gretchen’s career has included college student affairs (career counseling, residence life, student activities and academic advising), and elementary, middle and high school counseling.
Gretchen’s hobbies include painting, photography, arts, and, of course, travel! She looks forward to making many new SAS friends on the summer ’13 voyage!
