Ian Vollum is a well-seasoned traveler with a background in Early Childhood Education and Yoga. After three previous SAS voyages, he is excited to be returning for the FALL’13 voyage as Assistant Dependent Child Coordinator.
With degrees in Early Childhood Education & Psychology, Ian’s experience in working with young people spans 25 years, including running an outdoor education center in France, youth development work in England, and teaching preschool in the US.
Yoga is also an important part of Ian’s life. After teaching adult yoga in studios and kids yoga in elementary school, he created YOGA-PAINT-DANCE, an innovative yoga-arts program for young people. This has been very successful in the Tacoma-Seattle area of Washington where he and his family lived from 2005-2012.
Ian moved to England in December 2012 along with his wife, Siân & daughter Stella. He currently volunteers at his daughter’s school in the reading program, and is in the process of jump-starting the PTA.
For this voyage Ian hopes to explore new places, revisit familiar ones and realize a life long ambition to visit Patagonia. In a work capacity he expects to meet the needs of our youngest voyagers in a safe, respectful and age appropriate way to make sure their experience is as joyful as everyone else’s onboard.
