American mezzo-soprano Isobel Bartz has enjoyed an interesting career as both a classical singer and international music educator. She has appeared with the Capital Opera Company, Greensboro Opera Company, Empire State Opera Company, St. Louis Opera Theatre, the Aspen Music Festival and Des Moines Metro Opera and has been heard in recital in Washington, D.C. New York as well as locally in Chapel Hill, Greensboro and Raleigh, North Carolina. Her awards include a Rotary Scholarship to the Goethe Institute in Murnau, Germany and District Winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions in Kansas City, MO. In 2002, she attained her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Voice from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro while she was an Assistant Professor of Voice at St. Augustine’s College and a Voice Lecturer at UNC-Chapel Hill. Dr. Bartz currently offers private music lessons and enjoys teaching music to students of all ages.
In addition to her experience as a music educator, Isobel has also lived in and visited over 30 countries throughout Asia and Europe, which would pertain directly to the Global Studies course.
