Janelle Nicole Rahyns is a PhD Candidate at UCLA in the Graduate School of Education and Information Studies with a focus on International and Comparative Education. She served as staff on two previous Semester at Sea voyages (Spring 2010 and Summer 2014) as a Resident Director. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and her Master’s degree in Student Personnel in Higher Education at the University of Florida, and her research interests include cross-cultural communication, study abroad education, social psychology, and identity research.
Janelle has passionately cultivated a rich experience and depth of understanding in study abroad education and studied abroad in 2013 in South Africa. She also had the opportunity to visit and explore study abroad in England, Czech Republic, Denmark, Poland, Russia, Finland, Estonia, Sweden, Norway, Scotland, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Ghana, Mauritius, India, Vietnam, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Mexico, Australia, and Canada. Janelle is excited to continue to learn more about international education and communication and looks forward to spending spring semester with Semester at Sea!
