Associate Professor of English

Jennifer Green-Lewis

George Washington University

Jennifer Green-Lewis is Associate Professor of English at the George Washington University in Washington, DC, and since 1997 she has also been on the summer faculty of the Bread Loaf School of English, the graduate English program of Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont. Her undergraduate degree is a Scottish MA from the University of Edinburgh, and a Thouron Anglo-American fellowship brought her to the University of Pennsylvania for a PhD in English. JGL finds the relationship between literature and the visual arts endlessly fascinating, and it is the subject of all her articles and books, as well asher current manuscript on photography and memory. At some point in her class, no matter what the course is, you are sure to talk about images and the complex relations between sight and knowledge.
