Jessica Bangs studied abroad on Semester at Sea (Fall 03) as an undergraduate at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She credits the SAS experience for igniting her passion for cultural exchange and diplomacy, as well as her extreme wanderlust. She is currently a Mid-Atlantic Regional Representative for the Council of Chapters and Regions Steering Committee at the United Nations Association (UNA), serves on the Board of Directors as Membership Director, Outreach & Partnerships for UNA’s Southern New York Young Professionals, and is a founding member of UNA Women. She holds a Master of Arts in Intercultural Relations from Lesley University, and a joint Bachelor of Arts in Law & Society and Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Jessica’s love of travel and adventure has led her on numerous expeditions abroad, including 49 countries and all continents but Antarctica. Originally from California, she has lived in the Republic of Ireland, United Kingdom, Germany, New Zealand, Portland, Maui, Boston, D.C. and New York. She is spending this coming November and December living in France to work on her French language skills, and hopes to put them to the test on the voyage.
Of all experiences she’s had, Semester at Sea remains the most impactful, and sailing again is a dream come true! She can’t wait to be back on the water, and to be part of what’s sure to be an amazing shipboard community. In addition to traveling, Jessica enjoys playing volleyball, eating organic food (usually gluten free and vegan), and volunteering.
