Jessica Roberts most recently taught at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in Suzhou, China, and is a member of the faculty of the Salzburg Academy on Media and Global Change. She has a Ph.D. in Journalism Studies from the University of Maryland, as well as a Master’s degree in Journalism from USC’s Annenberg School for Communication, and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan. She has worked as a journalist for publications ranging from the Santa Monica Daily Press in California to the Cape Times in South Africa. Her doctoral dissertation explored the response of professional journalists to the activities of WikiLeaks, as part of her broader interest in new media and non-professional/citizen involvement in journalistic activities. She has also lived in Spain, Ecuador, the Czech Republic, Thailand, South Africa, Chile, and Austria, and sailed on the Fall 2013 voyage of Semester at Sea. She currently lives in Prague, Czech Republic
