Jill Hurd is the Director for Residential & Community Living at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She received her B.A. and M.A. from UCSB as well, in Communication Studies and Education Administration. She currently oversees the student life program for 10,000+ student residents. She has served on the Student Housing Co-op, and Shelter Services for Women Board of Directors, and presented at various statewide and national conferences. Whether it’s through personal connections or group events, light-hearted activities, or deep conversations, Jill is known for creating self-directed communities that nourish student’s co-curricular experience. Her goal for Fall 2017 is simply to create an inclusive community where everyone thrives. This will be Jill’s sixth voyage with Semester at Sea. Her love for the program stems from its transformational impact. In-between voyages, Jill has been involved in various SAS alumni efforts, from serving on Faculty/Staff council, to setting up the first west coast alumni group. Jill is excited to be traveling with her husband and two daughters this Spring.
