John lives in Missoula MT and is a full-time clinician working in remote and rural settings in Montana, Wyoming and Alaska. He currently operates a remote clinic in Prudhoe Bay Alaska, and does part time ER/Urgent Care in Yellowstone National Park and Missoula MT. He has considerable international experience as well, having lived and practiced medicine in Scotland, Africa, Afghanistan and the Pacific, including Midway Island and Shemya Island in the Aleutians. John is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Solomon Islands 99-00) and was a Medical Officer for Peace Corps Malawi from 2011-2013. He also worked in Namibia and The Gambia. His background includes tropical and travel medicine, along with emergency care and general practice. John holds advanced life support certifications in trauma, burn care, cardiac emergencies and pediatrics. John is a graduate of Montana State University (1988, BSN) and the University of Utah (2003, MPAS). He is a board member and director at large for the National Certification Commission for Physician Assistants. He will be joined on the voyage by his family, as they continue their explorations of the world and its cultures.
