John Serio

Clarkson University

John N. Serio is Professor Emeritus of Humanities at Clarkson University. He is a specialist in modern American poetry and has edited The Wallace Stevens Journal for nearly thirty years. Among his publications are Teaching Wallace Stevens: Practical Essays, The Cambridge Companion to Wallace Stevens, Selected Poems of Wallace Stevens, and The Collected Poems of Wallace Stevens: Corrected Edition. In addition, he has edited two collections of poetry for young people, Wallace Stevens and The Seasons. Professor Serio has been the recipient of several National Endowment for the Humanities grants and two Fulbrights, one to Greece and one to Belgium. In 2011, he received the Distinguished Editor Award from the Council of Editors of Learned Journals. He is a confirmed shellback, having taught for Semester at Sea in Sp05, Sp09, Fa12, and Sp14. He holds a B.S. in English Education from the State University College at Buffalo, an M.A. in English from Northwestern University, and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Notre Dame.
