Julian W. Connolly is Professor of Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Virginia, where he served as Chair of the Slavic Department from 2001 to 2011. He received his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. from Harvard University. He has taught a wide range of literature and culture courses at the University of Virginia and received an All-University Outstanding Teacher award in 1999. He is the author or editor of seven books on Russian literature and he has written over seventy articles. During the Summer 2008 Semester at Sea voyage, he taught two courses on fiction and film. He most recent project is a reader’s guide to Fyodor Dostoevsky’s The Brothers Karamazov.
