Julie currently works as an Adventure Director at Natural Habitat Adventures managing the design and operation of small group, nature and wildlife trips worldwide. Her focus is planning trips to the remote town of Churchill, Manitoba, Canada during the annual polar bear migration. She also manages trips to other destinations including Morocco, New Zealand and Scotland and previously managed safaris throughout eastern and southern Africa. Before starting with Natural Habitat Adventures, Julie worked as an active travel guide for four years leading hiking and biking vacations throughout Europe for a company called Backroads. She specialized in the Provence region of France where she designed new itineraries to help further explore the culture and beauty of the region.
For her undergraduate studies, Julie attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison where she earned degrees in economics and French. The most influential part of her education, however, was sailing as a student on the Spring 2002 Semester at Sea Voyage. The opportunity to be a part of the team that facilitates such an impactful educational program has been a long time career aspiration for Julie, and she is looking forward to traveling and learning with the 2013 Fall Voyage shipboard community.
