Kara Williams is a freelance writer who has covered topics ranging from business and babies to skiing and spas since graduating from Dartmouth College with an English degree (many moons ago). She has been employed as a newspaper reporter, magazine editor and corporate copy editor. Kara has freelanced since 1999, and in the past few years travel writing has been the main focus of her work. Her articles have appeared in The Denver Post, Dallas Morning News, Sunset, Every Day with Rachael Ray, Luxury Las Vegas and Fodors.com, among dozens of other outlets. She co-owns TheVacationGals.com, which won gold for Best Travel Blog in the 2012 Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Award Competition. Kara is a member of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW), and she makes her home in the Colorado Rockies, where she’s active outdoors as often as possible. This is her first voyage with Semester at Sea, but her husband sailed as a student aboard the S.S. Universe in 1987. Husband Quent and kiddos Ben and Kaylin (ages 12 and 14) join Kara on the MV Explorer this summer – and the entire family is eager to explore Europe together.
