Kathryn Dorsheimer

Kathryn (“Katy”) is a licensed psychologist who completed a PhD in Counseling Psychology at the University at Albany, SUNY and a postdoctoral fellowship at Claremont University Consortium Monsour Counseling and Psychological Services, where she specialized in diversity issues and work with survivors of sexual abuse and assault.  She has experience working in university counseling, community mental health, health psychology, and with veterans and individuals with acquired brain injuries.  Kathryn is currently a Counseling Psychologist at the University of California, Riverside Counseling Center, where she provides counseling, crisis intervention, consultation, outreach, and supervision, and has focused on supporting the LGBTQ student population.  She enjoys a career in working with a diverse group of college students, and values supporting student well-being.  In her work, Kathryn emphasizes a multicultural framework and facilitates the empowerment of students to reach their goals; she also incorporates mindfulness-based techniques.  She is very excited about her first voyage with Semester at Sea.
