Kelly Matlack has served as a Coordinator for Housing and Residence Life at Western Kentucky University for the past four years. She has a new found love for Kentucky and the southern feel while being a Midwest girl at heart.
Kelly attended Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership. After FHSU, Kelly ventured to the University of Kansas where she earned a Master’s degree in Adult and Higher Education Administration. Her previous professional experiences include serving as the Assistant Hall Director at Fort Hays State University, Assistant Complex Director at the University of Kansas, and Residence Hall Director at Missouri Western State University. Currently, as a Coordinator for Housing and Residence Life, she is able to work with college students every day. She shares in their development outside the classroom and supports them through any obstacles they may be facing. It has been Kelly’s honor to watch her students grow and develop into successful individuals.
Kelly is originally from Washington, Kansas and found her passion working in Residence Life throughout the various positions she has held over the past ten years. Kelly is committed to student success and sees the value in experiential learning. She will work hard to provide as many leadership opportunities to students as possible to help them reach their goals.
When Kelly is not on campus, she can usually be found spending time playing with her dog, Smurf, volunteering for a philanthropic organization she is involved in, playing board games with friends, or looking for new places to explore. She is very excited to be sailing on the spring 2018 voyage and can’t wait to travel the world with you!
