Assistant Dean of Student Life

Kevin McKee

For the past six years, Kevin has worked as a School Counselor at Mangum Elementary School in Durham, North Carolina.  He recently received the Elementary School Counselor of the Year Award for Durham Public Schools.  Prior to his job as a Counselor, Kevin worked for seven years in Higher Education and Student Affairs in a variety of capacities, including residence life and student activities.  Kevin holds a B.A. in Communication Studies from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as well as a Masters of Education degree and an Educational Specialist degree from The University of Georgia.

Kevin’s love for international travel began when he traveled across Europe as a UNC Phillip’s Scholar.  Since then, Kevin has traveled to more than 25 countries and is excited to explore the unique ports on the Spring 2013 voyage.  This is Kevin’s second tenure with Semester at Sea, having sailed on the Summer 2010 Mediterranean voyage as a Living Learning Coordinator.

In his free time, Kevin is an avid runner.  He is also a Zumba instructor and works at the Carolina Outdoor Education Center during the summers.  He can’t wait to experience Semester at Sea again as his first voyage proved life-changing!  He challenges all voyagers to make the most of this once in a lifetime opportunity!
