Kim grew up in upstate New York and graduated from Marlboro College in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies and Anthropology. Looking for an adventure, she moved to Hawaii with her now husband and returned to school, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Hawai’i Pacific University in 2007. Her first years of nursing were spent in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire. She obtained her Master of Science in Nursing in 2011 from Vanderbilt University and continued working in the PICU as a pediatric acute care nurse practitioner. In 2017, she completed a Post-Master’s Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate from the University of Massachusetts Boston and transitioned into her dream job at Dartmouth College providing primary and urgent care to the student population.
Kim is ecstatic to be the nurse practitioner on the Spring 2020 voyage and will be bringing her husband Dave and their nine year old son Owen along for the adventure. They cannot wait to help build an amazing shipboard community with the students, faculty, staff, and families with their yoga instructing, ukulele jamming, board game sharking, and old man basketball playing. They are excited to add many more thumbtacks to the world map in their living room during this once in a lifetime experience.
