Lance Gentry is a Professor of Marketing at the University of Mary Washington. Dr. Gentry received his Ph.D. in Marketing and Supply Chain Management from Michigan State University. In both academics and industry, Dr. Gentry has been surveying and evaluating respondents since 1993. In previous experience, Dr. Gentry was directly responsible for market research as a Marketing Manager at Intel Corporation and as the North American Director for New Product Development at Philips Consumer Electronics Company. He also earned an MBA and a BSBA at the University of Tennessee. In 2005 he founded Heartland Market Research LLC which specializes in satisfaction research. In 2015 he founded Aussie Care LLC to import Australian products for resale in the United States.
Dr. Gentry is happily married with two boys and two girls. He enjoys photography, traveling, white-water rafting, snorkeling, and science fiction. He has traveled every continent except Antarctica (so far). Professor Gentry’s favorite place to visit is Australia. He has been there five times – three times with students – and looks forward to visiting new parts of it during the 2020-21 academic year.
Professor Gentry strongly believes that students learn best by doing and incorporates this philosophy into his classes. After covering the theoretical portion of Professor Gentry’s class via lectures, readings, and discussions, students then master the material by applying it via simulations and/or projects.
