Larry Bloom

Colorado State University

Dr. Larry Bloom is a Professor Emeritus at Colorado State University in the Department of Psychology where he taught Psychology of Human Sexuality, Psychopathology, and Psychobiology for 44 years. He has received numerous teaching awards from the alumni association, the College of Natural Sciences, and the academic student population. His Human Sexuality course has been voted as the Best of CSU on several occasions. During many of his years as CSU, Dr. Bloom was the Director of the Psychological Services Center and the Director of Clinical Training in the doctoral program in Counseling Psychology. In addition to his academic responsibilities, Dr. Bloom has maintained an independent practice as a clinical psychologist specializing in health psychology with an emphasis on the relationship between psychology and cardiology.

Dr. Bloom is an avid skier, sailor, and cycler. He was portrayed by Kevin Costner in the 2018 movie depicting the life and times of his daughter, Molly Bloom. “Molly’s Game” was nominated for an academy award in 2018 and received numerous other awards for the adapted screenplay, written and directed by Aaron Sorkin. His son Jeremy was a two-time Olympian in freestyle mogul skiing, world champion, and NFL football player. Not to be outdone, his son Jordan, is a cardiothoracic surgery fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital and instructor at Harvard. His wife Kristin, who is an artist and passionate world traveler, will be joining him on the Semester at Sea voyage and together they are both extremely excited about the journey.
