Larry Silver is Farquhar Professor of Art History at the University of Pennsylvania. He previously taught at Berkeley and Northwestern, where he served as the long-term master of a residential college. He has also made numerous trips as a lecturer with the alumni associations at both Penn and Northwestern. Professor Silver recently received the Lindback Award, University of Pennsylvania’s highest teaching award.
Graduated with a B.A. from Chicago and earned his Ph.D. at Harvard.
Larry has been twice around the world on Semester at Sea on the Fall 2001 and Fall 2006 voyages, and he twice participated in summer voyages in 2008 and 2010. He joined the Fall 2012 voyage around the Atlantic and participated in several Enrichment Voyages. His Penn alumni association trips have also featured several major SAS sites, including Turkey, India, Peru, and even Havana.
