Assistant Field Director

Laura McDonald

Laura graduated as a honor student receiving a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and International Studies in 2009.  She is currently completing the practical phase of Masters of Arts in International Education through SIT Graduate Institute.

For 3 years, Laura worked as an International Admissions Counselor at Full Sail University. She played a key role in developing support services for international students and orienting faculty to new cultural contexts during international recruitment fairs. She also assisted with enrolling and counseling international students through their study abroad experience in the United States. Laura’s major responsibility was expanding and promoting the Full Sail University brand globally.

As Marketing and Student Services Administrator at the University of Sunshine Coast in Australia, she coordinated cultural programs with faculty and staff for students and helped students adapt to Australian culture.

For the 2016 NAFSA Annual Conference, Laura was chosen to serve as the Management Development Volunteer, coordinating and supporting faculty through the program.

She has traveled in Europe, studied in the Caribbean, and worked in South Korea and Australia. Laura enjoys power yoga, high-intensity exercise, and appreciates how being near an ocean can bring calm, clarity, and creativeness to oneself.  Ultimately, Laura is passionate about helping students find opportunities to expand their perspective while enhancing their awareness of their own cultural identities within a global context.
