Laura Miller is the Digital Scholarship Services Librarian in the Scholars’ Lab at the University of Virginia’s Alderman Library. She has a MLIS from Florida State University and a BA in English from William & Mary. As coordinator of the Scholars’ Lab’s public services, she oversees their digital humanities speaker series and their Makerspace, an open space for tinkering – and asking new research questions – with technologies such as physical computing and 3D modeling and fabrication. In other words, she gets to work with awesome faculty, curious students, and cool toys every day! Prior to her time in the Scholars’ Lab, she worked for seven years in UVA’s Brown Science & Engineering Library. Her research interests include data management and user-centered design; and away from the library, she enjoys live music, long walks, and quirky podcasts. She looks forward to supporting students and the community of learning on the MV World Odyssey in Fall 2015.
