Lissa Stapleton is originally from Ohio, but has lived in Iowa for the past three years pursuing her Ph.D. in Higher Education Social Justice with a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies. She received her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Wright State University and her master’s degree in College Student Personnel from the University of Dayton. Lissa currently works as a House Director for Theta Delta Chi Fraternity and a graduate assistant for her academic department. Before moving to Iowa, Lissa worked in Residential Life at California State University Northridge as a Senior Community Director. Her job consisted of student support services, programming, supervising RAs, crisis management, and more. She also oversaw the deaf and hard of hearing residential hall. Lissa is really involved with the deaf community and loves learning about new cultures. She is enthusiastic about starting a sign language club on the ship this summer! She sailed with SAS on the Summer 2009 voyage and has traveled to over 25 countries. Lissa will be serving as a Resident Director this summer and is really excited about being a part of a new community, working with students, faculty and staff, and watching amazing sunsets!
