Margery Sabin is Lorraine Chiu Wang Professor of English at Wellesley College, where she has also been founding Director of the college’s South Asia Studies Program. Professor Sabin has also taught for many years on the faculty of the summer Masters in English Program at the Bread Loaf School of English. She holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from Harvard Univesity. Both her teaching and writing have ranged widely in the fields of modern English fiction and poetry and, in recent years, on colonial and post-colonial topics in Indian and in Irish literature. Her most recent book is Dissenters and Mavericks: Writings about India in English, 1765-2000 (Oxford University Press). She has enjoyed traveling with her husband, James E. Sabin, both independently and as faculty guides on student trips in Europe and India. Dr. James Sabin will also be on the Semester at Sea Faculty for the 2015 voyage, teaching courses on global health and medical ethics.
