Mari currently works as the Executive Director of Housing & Dining Services (HDs) at Colorado State University (CSU) where she is responsible for the overall operation of HDS ensuring the vision, mission, and goals of A self-operated, multi-unit auxiliary organization are successfully accomplished through high standards of operation and performance for all HDS facilities, programs, services and personnel that serves over 8,000 residents who live in on-campus housing and other guests. She has over 30 years of experience in higher education, primarily at CSU, and has worked in both student unions and in housing. Her experience includes work as the Associate Executive Director of Housing & Dining Services, Director of Campus Activities, Associate Director of Residence Life, Assistant Director of Residence Life, and Program Coordinator for Campus Activities. Mari is an adjunct faculty member in the School of Education and has taught various courses for the Student Affairs in Higher Education master’s degree program, most recently teaching Organizational Development in Student Affairs. In addition to her higher education experience she spent 3 years working for Hewlett Packard as a Diversity Consultant and as an HR generalist.
Mari grew up in a family that instilled within her a passion for travel as every summer her parents would pack up the family station wagon for 2 weeks trips somewhere in the United States, and primarily because of these adventures she has been to all 50 states. Mari studied in England for a semester when she was in college, and lived in Berlin, Germany for 4 months with her husband and young sons. In addition Mari has traveled extensively in Europe, done a study tour in Qatar, and enjoyed other international travel opportunities. She looks forward to visiting other parts of the globe that she has not yet seen along with her husband Brett and sons Max (16) & Kirk (14) who will be joining her on this voyage.
Mari has a BS in Interpersonal Communications and Psychology from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point and an M Ed in College Student Personnel Administration from Colorado State University. She is thrilled that her dream of being a SAS staff member is finally coming true, as she has wanted to be a part of this program since first hearing about it in 1988, and finally the stars have aligned!
