Marissiko Wheaton

Marissiko was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She attended Santa Monica Community College and received her B.A. in Social Ecology from the University of California, Irvine. She moved to New York City where she received her M.A. in Higher Education, Student Personnel Administration from New York University. Marissiko has worked in Student Activities, Multicultural and Social Justice Education, Service-Learning and most recently, Residence Life as a Residence Hall Director for a large upperclass residence hall community in the middle of Union Square, NYC. 
Semester at Sea has been a long time dream for Marissiko, personally and professionally. The opportunity to travel around the globe with students and colleagues; experiencing a new environment each day is an amazing privilege. She is passionate about college student identity development and activism. The Fall 2014 Voyage could not be a better place to explore, examine and engage in these topics in a variety of ways. Marissiko is most looking forward to the inevitable moments that will change or redefine her point of views, perspectives and beliefs about the world.
