Marit is an active artist who has been teaching studio art in the college classroom for 15 years. She has taught at Pacific Lutheran University and is currently tenured faculty at Tacoma Community College, Washington, where she also serves as Art Department Chair. She had lived and taught abroad, most recently in London with the Washington State Consortium for Study Abroad. Marit received her MFA in Painting from Washington State University and her BA from San Diego State University. In her studio and in the classroom, her primary disciplines are painting and printmaking. She works in all painting media and is skilled in etching, lithography, relief, and digital media. At present she is working on a body of work exploring environmental biomes. This work will be exhibited at the Department of Ecology at the state capital, in Washington. She supports service projects that connect artists and the community and is currently working on a project with other artists for “Shared Housing Services”. For fun, she practices yoga, and enjoys adventurous dinning. Her seven year old daughter, Maeve, is excited to be joining her on this voyage.
