Mark Ferne serves as the Chief Student Affairs Officer at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah. In his position he supervises nearly all aspects of Student Affairs and even lives on the edge of campus in a college-owned home. Through intentional programming like the Dean Delivers (providing food to residents during finals) and Defeat the Dean (a weekly table-tennis match), Mark interacts with countless students on campus in ways not often seen by senior administrators—he even spent several years on the practice squad of the women’s basketball team! An avid traveler (49 states and six continents), Mark completed two voyages on Semester at Sea, as an RD in Fall 2000 and as ADOS in Summer 2003. He’s also co-taught Westminster courses with faculty members in both Peru and Colombia.
Mark received a BA at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, and studied abroad at the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica. He completed his graduate degree at the University of Maryland in Higher Education Administration. He has worked in the residence life departments at the University of Maryland and the University of Florida. Mark moved to Salt Lake City in 2002 and is exited to start his third voyage!
