Mark White

Mark White is Associate Professor of Commerce at the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce, where he teaches and conducts research in corporate finance and sustainable business practices. Before joining the University of Virginia faculty in 1989, he earned his BA in Biology from Kalamazoo College and MS (Ecology), MBA (Finance), and PhD (Finance) degrees from Michigan State University. Professor White is currently engaged in a number of collaborative research projects, including efforts to model the environmental and financial impacts of algae biofuel production and the UVA Bay Game, an interactive simulation of the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Professor White enjoys international travel and has led numerous study abroad programs to Europe, Africa, Australia, Asia, Central and South America. In Spring 2010, he served as Academic Dean for a sustainability-themed Semester at Sea voyage. A former Fulbright scholar, Professor White also holds visiting professorships at the Technische Universität Dresden and the Darden Graduate School of Business.
