Mike Wenger retired from industry after over 30 years of varied experience which included senior executive positions at Sun Microsystems (Worldwide Director of Strategy and Innovation for Sun Knowledge Services), academe (teaching strategy, international business, business ethics, and entrepreneurship at Washington State University, the US Air Force Academy, Mercer University, and Colorado College), and a successful private consulting practice focused on long-term strategy and change for clients in industry, government, and the non-profit sector. He has worked with over 200 entrepreneurs in North America and Angola during their pre-startup and startup phases of business development. Mike holds a Doctorate in international business strategy and cross-cultural communication from Oxford University as well as an M.B.A. from UCLA and a B.S. in management from The USAF Academy. He currently teaches as visiting faculty at several universities and works with multiple international humanitarian organizations in a variety of advisory roles. As Board Vice-Chair for Ten Thousand Villages of the National Capital Area, he is currently leading a new venture to expand the retail footprint of this Fair Trade outlet into the District of Columbia. His business and teaching passions have always centered on entrepreneurship; innovation and change; the use of technology to foster communication, coordination, and learning in and among organizations; and fostering education and business skills for humanitarian development.
