Dr. Michele Ribeiro is a licensed psychologist and certified group psychotherapist who works for Oregon State University’s counseling center. She received her BS from Appalachian State University, her MS from Indiana State University and her EdD from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Michele started her travels early in life due to her father’s military service in Japan and regular family visits to Austria. As an adult, Michele has been on a short one month sojourn to Israel and Egypt; followed by a year and a half travel to Australia, NZ, Thailand, India, Nepal, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia to explore identity, meditation, and yoga. Professional trips included dissertation focused work in South Africa and suicide prevention training in China. She is an active member of the American Group Psychotherapy Association and is Co-Chair of the Special Interest Group for college counseling settings. She received the Student Service Award in 2010 through the Division of Student Affairs at OSU due to her passion for service to campus communities. She is thrilled to embark on the SAS Summer 2012 voyage and anticipates working with students, staff and faculty in co-creating a learning community that values mental and physical wellness.
