Mike has served as the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and Executive Director of the Lory Student Center at Colorado State University for the past 18 years. During this time, Mike has also served as an Assistant Professor in CSU’s Student Affairs in Higher Education (SAHE) Master’s program.
Mike received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California-Irvine, a Master of Arts degree in College Student Personnel Administration from the University of Maryland-College Park, and his Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Utah. His previous professional experiences include serving as the Interim Assistant Director and Coordinator of Student Programs in the Stamp Student Union at the University of Maryland and Director of the Shepherd Union at Weber State University.
Mike is originally from California where, as a first-generation student, he attended UC Irvine and began his 25+ year career in student affairs. He is committed to ensuring student access to leadership opportunities in higher education which help students not only feel connected in our communities of learning, but also empowered to make a difference in our world.
When not on campus and engaged in student life, Mike and his wife, Maria, can often be found in the Colorado landscape, or experiencing life and adventures with their three adult children.
