Nancy Snow Carr

Grossmont College

Nancy Snow Carr, professional singer, actress, and educator, is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association and The National Association of Teachers of Singing. She has spent her life performing, teaching, and traveling the world. Her professional performance credits include the national tours of Phantom (Christine) and The Buddy Holly Story as well as numerous regional appearances. Some of her favorite performance credits include  7 seasons performing in How the Grinch Stole Christmas at The Old Globe Theatre, Singin’ in the Rain (Lina Lamont), The Light in the Piazza (Margaret) at The California Center for the Arts, RESPECT: A Musical Journey of Women (San Diego and Phoenix Casts), and creating the role of Smeraldina in the world premiere of the new musical The Servant of Two Masters at Lamb’s Players Theatre. She also appeared in the Washington, DC premiere of Hunter Foster and David Kirshenbaum’s Summer of ‘42 (Dorothy) at the Round House Theatre.

In addition to her performance experience, Nancy has been a TEDx speech coach, a Theatre Arts faculty member at Grossmont College, and a Performing Arts faculty member at Stephens College where she  taught Acting for the Camera, Theatre Speech, Acting I & II, and Private Voice. She also taught Musical Theatre Performance, Musical Theatre Voice Lab at San Diego State University, and has been a guest lecturer on “Show Business and Finance” at Elon University. She currently owns and operates one of the most successful private voice and audition preparation studios in San Diego, CA. Her students have performed on Broadway and all over the world. She received her BFA in Musical Theatre from Elon University and her MFA from San Diego State University.

This is Nancy’s third time sailing with Semester at Sea.  She sailed around the world with Archbishop Desmond Tutu on the Fall 2010 voyage, and on the 2014 voyage to Europe and Scandinavia.  She is excited to share this voyage with her husband Geno Carr (SAS Theatre faculty) and her 7 year old son Elliott. Upon completion of this voyage she will have visited 30 countries.
