Paul Shepherd’s novel, More Like Not Running Away, won the Mary McCarthy Award and was finalist for the Associated Writing Programs Intro Award, the James Jones Prize, the Bakeless Prize, and the John Gardner Award. He has published poetry, fiction, and non-fiction in dozens of magazines and journals, and currently has a book of poetry, a novel, and a memoir in submission. He is former Writer in Residence and Kingsbury Fellow at Florida State University. His PhD from Florida State is in the novel and postcolonial literature. In addition to his academic and literary pursuits, he has worked as Director of Student Activities at Belmont Abbey, Director of Youth and Family Ministries, freelance advertising copywriter, tennis coach, ski patroller and instructor, and faculty adviser for student publications. He enjoys cooking, diving, skiing, tennis, and travel. He and his wife Lois have three children, Max, Summer, and Charlie.
