Librarian

Philip McEldowney

University of Virginia

Philip McEldowney currently serves as a selector, library services instructor, and liaison for the faculty and students in the fields of Anthropology, eastern Religions, languages of South Asia and the Middle East, and South Asian history. Over the last 20 years, he has enjoyed developing and promoting a strong relationship between the library and researchers, faculty, and students. He has always been interested in foreign area studies and cultures from the time that he grew up and went to school in India, through his graduate studies and university teaching, and international travels, as they led him to his role as a librarian. He looks forward to further travels on the voyage, and to meet and serve students and faculty, and in providing the best information possible to support the outstanding teaching and learning opportunities during our four months at sea.
