Phillip DuVentre is excited to return and sail again on Semester at Sea! Phillip is from Tennessee and studied at Murray State University before attaining his Masters in Higher Education from Florida International University. He worked at the University of Miami and volunteered in Central America on multiple service-learning trips.
He later moved to Malibu where he worked in Residential Life as a Posse Mentor, led civil rights tours, and served as the Study Abroad Assistant Director at Pepperdine University. He also coached middle school basketball. He sailed as the Resident Director of Spiritual Life and the Resident Director of Diversity and Inclusion on two separate voyages: Spring ’17 and Spring ’20.
Phillip enjoys playing competitive sports, cooking and making smoothies, comedy shows, hiking, surfing, driving, card games, working out, and riding his tandem bike.
Most of all, Phillip enjoys community. Phillip is thrilled to re-join the great community, serving, living and learning on the MV World Odyssey as the Assistant Dean of Student Life. He looks forward to his team, new students, classes, reconnecting with the crew, and friends internationally, and being enamored by God’s beautiful creation around the world.
