In 2006, after 37 years in higher education administration, Randy Lewis retired from his position as Executive Associate Dean of Students at the University of California, Irvine. While at UC Irvine, he managed a complex set of student services programs, including oversight for club and organization advising, community service programs, fraternity and sorority relations, new student orientation, student leadership and civic engagement programs, and university open house activities. He also oversaw UC Irvine’s multicultural and lgbt resource centers.
Randy’s affiliation with Semester at Sea began in 1975, and this will be his 8th voyage with the program. This association has provided opportunities for travel in Africa, Asia, South Asia, Europe, and South America. In 2004 and 2005, he took student and staff groups from UC Irvine to China as part of the University of California’s Legends of China program. Additionally, Randy has traveled throughout Mexico.
He holds a B.A. in History from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a M.A. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Illinois.
Randy lives in Laguna Beach with his wife, Darlene Campbell. Darlene is professional artist and also serves on the painting faculty at the Laguna College of Art and Design. This will be her 4th SAS voyage serving as faculty.
