Renee Kashawlic

Committed to serving as a positive influence and contributor in the lives around her, Renee Kashawlic is a
passionate professional who is stoked to be joining the Semester at Sea family. She will serve as a Resident Director for the Fall 2012 Voyage, where she hopes to continue empowering others and learning about the world. June 2012 will conclude four years of service as a Community Director within the Department of Housing and Residential Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During her tenure at UNC, Renee accomplished much as “coach” of Team Kenan, the undergraduate student leadership of a four-building residential community. Team Kenan is known across the UNC campus for its community pride, exceptional service, and developmental focus. Renee earned her master’s degree in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education from Texas A&M University, and a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communication from Western Michigan University. She is a Gallup StrengthQuest Facilitator, a QPR Gatekeeper Trainer, and an advocate for ending sexual assault and interpersonal violence. Renee is a proud member of Delta Gamma Fraternity and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA). Additionally, Renee enjoys rousing games of Killer Bunnies, cooking on her stainless-steel grill, and volunteering with the Wounded Warrior Project. Semester at Sea has been on Renee’s professional “bucket list” for years and she is beyond giddy for this opportunity.
