Dr. Rob Wilder is passionate about eco-entrepreneurship, teaching, and advocacy. Rob is CEO
of WilderHill Clean Energy Index, first for renewable energy on Wall Street – and co-manages
the WilderHill New Energy Global Innovation Index, first for new energy worldwide.
He has long taught on international topics including at the University of California San Diego,
U.C. Santa Barbara, University of the South Pacific, and as Assistant Professor at University of
Massachusetts. He has done extensive applied work for instance in Russia, and Croatia for the
U.S. State Dept, and in the Fiji Islands for multinational bodies.
Rob holds a Ph.D., M.A., B.A. from U.C. Santa Barbara and a Law Degree from University
of San Diego Law School. His awards include a Fulbright Fellowship, American Assn. for
Advancement of Science /EPA Fellowship in Environmental Science & Technology, Ph.D.
Dissertation Award from Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and he was named a National
Academy of Sciences Young Investigator (twice).
Author of an interdisciplinary book, chapters and articles, he is widely published for instance
in Nature, National Academy of Sciences Press, Engineering News Record, University of
Chicago Press, UCLA Journal of Environmental Law & Policy, and the Virginia Journal of
International Law. Rob serves on many Boards including the National Board of the Sierra Club,
is a Trustee for Society for Conservation Biology, on the Director’s Cabinet at Scripps, and
recently was Public Advocate for Energy & Climate Sustainability for the Mayor of San Diego.
