Ryan is thrilled to join the Student Life team for his first voyage with Semester at Sea. While he’s studied and traveled internationally, all of the countries on this itinerary will be new to him. Ryan’s looking forward to exploring more of the world and getting lost in deep conversations with different people. His husband, Bernie won’t be sailing for the full semester but plans to join for a few adventures.
Over his 14-year career in higher education, Ryan has cultivated his passion for inspiring change and building resilient communities, specifically related to violence prevention and issues of inclusion. Ryan’s currently the Director of Wellness and Health Promotion at Seattle University where he empowers students to make healthy decisions through education, prevention, and peer support. He has previously worked in residence life and multicultural affairs at universities throughout the Pacific Northwest. He regularly facilitates trainings and guest lectures in classes on campus.
Ryan received his Master’s Degree in Student Development Administration from Seattle University and received his B.A. in Education and Spanish from Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin.
