Sergei Polozov

Dr. Sergei A. Polozov is a Full Professor of Biology, and Math & Science Department Chair at Concordia University, Portland, Oregon. He received his Ph.D. in Ornithology from Moscow State Pedagogical University, where he taught for thirteen years before moving to the United States in 1993. He conducted research on ecology of shorebirds, and taught Marine Biology and Environmental Science on the coasts of Africa, Americas, Asia, Australia, Europe, and New Zealand; Hawaii, Galapagos, and Mauritius. He has taught Ecology, Intro to Environmental Science and Ornithology on the M/V Explorer with Semester at Sea during around the world voyage in the spring of 2006. He participated in a variety of international projects on science, education, and mass media in different countries; hosted a radio show on conservation in Russia and USA, and international TV show on nature (recipient of the MacArthur Foundation award for original TV show concept). He published numerous research articles on ornithology and conservation, scripts for radio and TV, chapters in several monographs, and two non-fiction books (www.sergeipolozov.com)
