Sophia David is a PhD candidate at the University of Exeter working within the field of ecocriticism. Her work examines the cultural imagination of climate change. She considers how climate change is problematic to existing modes of thought and seeks to understand how contemporary environmental novels can raise consciousness and encourage pro-environmental behaviour. Sophia is fully funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council. She is also employed as a teaching assistant at the University of Exeter in modules on Research Methods, Literary Criticism, and Literary Studies.
Sophia is thrilled to be sailing with Semester at Sea and strongly values its unique, cross-cultural approach to learning. She is also looking forward to being part of a lively community of staff, faculty, lifelong learners, and students.
