Stephen Deaderick currently works at Oxford College of Emory University as a Residence Life Coordinator and Diversity Coordinator. Born and raised in Long Beach, CA, Stephen is a proud Californian but now claims Georgia as home as well. He attended Emory University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degrees in Sociology and Educational Studies and then UCLA, where he graduated with a Master of Education degree in Student Affairs. Stephen has worked at Oxford College since July 2010 and is looking forward to attending graduate school for his Ph.D. in Higher Education in the near future. Professionally, he is passionate about social justice, multicultural education, and identity development. Stephen is very involved in NASPA and will be starting his two-year commitment as Co-Chair of the New Professionals and Graduate Students Knowledge Community in March 2014. He has previously served in other leadership positions in this Knowledge Community as well as the Asian Pacific Islander Knowledge Community. In his spare time, he enjoys trying new restaurants, watching trashy reality television, playing team trivia, and Zumba. Stephen most recently traveled to South Korea this past summer and is looking forward to having another global experience through Semester at Sea.
