Tim Laseter is a Professor of Practice at the Darden Graduate Business School at the University of Virginia. He also teaches at an evolving mix of business schools including the Tuck School at Dartmouth, IESE in Barcelona, the London Business School, Emory University’s Goizueta School, the India School of Business, Vanderbilt’s Owen School, and the Stern School at NYU.
He earned a PhD in Operations Management and an MBA from the Darden Graduate Business School and a BS in Industrial Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Prior to joining the Darden faculty in 2002, Laseter was a partner at what is now Booz & Company, with concentrations on operations strategy, supply chain management, and sourcing for a wide variety of global businesses. Before joining Booz, Laseter worked in manufacturing operations at a joint venture between Siemens and Corning.
Laseter is the author or coauthor of four books including Balanced Sourcing, Strategic Product Creation, The Portable MBA, and Internet Retail Operations and a contributing editor for strategy+business. His academic research, published in a variety of leading journals including Journal of Operations Management, Decision Sciences, California Management Review and Sloan Management Review generally focuses on Internet-based businesses.
