Trenton Merricks is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Virginia. He has published around fifty scholarly articles. He has also written two books—Objects and Persons and Truth and Ontology—which were both published by Oxford University Press. He received his B.A. in philosophy from the Ohio State University and his M.A. and Ph.D., both also in philosophy, from the University of Notre Dame. In 2008 he was awarded the Cavaliers’ Distinguished Teaching Professorship; this is the University of Virginia’s highest award for excellence in undergraduate teaching, and is awarded to one faculty member from across the university each year. Merricks has presented his research at universities around the world, not only in the United States and Europe, but also in China, Peru, Argentina, Australia, and New Zealand.
