Valerie Ong

Born in Malaysia, Valerie came to the United States first as a high school exchange student, then received her BA in politics from Messiah College  (where she also spent two semester abroad in Klaipeda, Lithuania and Oxford, Great Britain) and her MS in social policy from the University of Pennsylvania. She remained in the United States and recently became a US citizen.

Valerie spent the past 3 years working in residence life at Stanford University. She moved to Alaska this past fall and will explore the last frontier before she escapes the cold and darkness to sail around the world.

Valerie has a goal of visiting at least one new country per year of life. At the end of this voyage, she will have visited 40 countries and 47 US states.
