Amazon Tribal Dance

Program Overview
Country: Brazil

While Rio’s Carnival and the Samba steal the international spotlight, Brazil hosts many festivals throughout the year.  The Amazon is home to the second largest popular festival in Brazil, the Parintins Festival.  Every June, the jungle explodes with a musical contest between the two schools of Garantido and Caprichoso. The driving rhythm that propels this festival is Boi Bumba, a pulsating sound with drumming, tribal roots and lots of swing!

Join a special guest instructor and learn about the influence of the Boi Bumba dance in the Amazon culture. During the 90-minute session, join the festive atmosphere and dance!
